Update to PBM Legislation in Missouri

The Missouri State legislature was considering legislation to bring accountability to the pharmacy benefit manager industry. These reforms would be a victory for patients, improving access and lowering costs. While HB 834 made it through every committee unanimously in both the House and the Senate, it never got put on the calendar for a final vote in the Senate.

Working with ATAP legislators led by Representative Dale Wright also tried attaching the legislation as an amendment to Senate bills SB 43 and SB 403. However, the threat of filibusters caused the Senators to hold the Bill up so their Bill would not be jeopardized.

Representative Wright has stated his commitment to pre-file the Bill again in December and give it another try next session beginning in January.

These important changes will be made possible through collaboration – and ATAP knows that in Missouri and elsewhere, it requires collaboration to be successful. ATAP physicians and caregivers remain committed to serving as a critical resource to help bring about meaningful reforms for patients.
