Transparent & Affordable Prescriptions

A Coalition Standing Up For Patients

The Alliance for Transparent & Affordable Prescriptions (ATAP) is a coalition of provider and patient groups concerned about the role of pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) in driving up drug costs. The coalition serves as a voice for patients and providers, two groups grossly underrepresented in the drug pricing debate.

Unmasking the Middlemen

PBMs were created to control drug utilization and cost. While PBMs have become incredibly effective at negotiating discounts and rebates from manufacturers, patients rarely reap the benefits of these savings. ATAP was created to bring attention to PBM practices that drain dollars from the healthcare system without providing benefits to patients, and to promote policy changes that lower the cost of prescription medicines.

The AACU's resources are dedicated to inform members of the issues affecting their practice and profession, and then to work directly to influence the resolutions of these issues.

Our patients continually have difficulty in obtaining appropriate and timing medications. Providers must navigate patients through obstructive obstacles to provide the necessary treatment for their patients. We must take a stand against these disruptive business practices that are counterproductive to our patients.
