New York Becomes Newest State to Pass PBM Legislation

ATAP is pleased to announce that New York has become the newest state to pass PBM reform legislation. Sponsored by Assemblymember Linda Rosenthal, A8781 was passed unanimously by both the New York House and Assembly and is waiting to be signed into law by Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Under A8781, PBMs cannot prohibit pharmacies from disclosing to consumers the cost of prescription medication, the availability of alternative medications or alternative means of purchasing prescription medications; and prohibits PBMs from collecting copayments from consumers of prescription medications.

ATAP applauds Assemblymember Rosenthal and her fellow cosponsors for recognizing the need for PBM reform in New York and wishes to thank both the New York House and Assembly for passing this important piece of legislation.
