ATAP Responds to State of the Union Address
The Alliance for Transparent & Affordable Prescriptions (ATAP) is encouraged by President Trump’s statement during the State of the Union address last night that reducing prescription drug prices is one of his “greatest priorities.” As a coalition of physicians and patient advocates, ATAP’s mission is to lower prescription drug costs and increase patient access to affordable treatments. We seek to shine a light on the practices of pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) – the hidden middlemen in the drug pricing system that divert savings intended for patients to their own bottom line. ATAP looks forward to working with the administration and members of Congress to bring more transparency to the drug pricing system and rein in destructive PBM practices. We are glad President Trump and our elected officials are committed to this goal. Together, we can finally put patients first.
